Tignes, France – Day 1

I am so happy to say that I made it to France with all of my luggage. I have not always been so fortunate. Last year, my flight was delayed, my luggage did not arrive, and my borrowed skis didn’t stay on my feet. So far this trip has been great. The competition was tentatively scheduled to begin on Sunday on the Gran Balme Face. After the meeting tonight, I learned that the competition is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday and will be on different face. The Gran Balme does not have enough snow for a safe competition. In the words of the head guide, “It is a mine field.”

I am psyched that the competition has been bumped back. It will give me a couple of days to get over my jet lag and do some skiing! Life is good in France!
